• Founded by the legend Remus and Romulus (B)
• Augustus was the first emperor of Rome in 27 B.C. (C)
• Marcus Aurelius was a clever emperor, interested in ideas, he wrote a book of philosophy(C)
• Constantine made the official religion of roman empire, Christianity (C)

B. Advancements (ex. Inventions, Transportation, Improvements of Life)
1. Inventions / Progress

• Greatly expanded its military and created a government called Res Publica (B)
• Roman Republic was confirmed around 509 B.C. (B)

2. Architecture

• Sand and chalk was used to make a type of concrete (B)
• Good architecture and engineering (B)
• Built forts, temples, baths, great walls, and roads (B)
